MOOYYY SILVER JEWELRY

Almost all MOOYYY jewelry is crafted from Sterling silver, meaning silver with a purity of Ag 925/1000. Silver is a metal that naturally undergoes gradual oxidation. Oxidation typically appears as the jewelry developing a blackened surface over time. While silver remains more stable in clean, dry air, humid environments accelerate the oxidation process. The rate of oxidation can be influenced by various factors, including the wearer's skin type, substances the jewelry comes into contact with, and even the wearer's current health condition or medications. Therefore, oxidation is not considered a defect and is not grounds for a warranty claim.

It’s important to note that oxidation is not permanent. Silver can be easily cleaned using a soft cloth (ideally a special silver polishing cloth, which is readily available and can be found HERE), or with a silver jewelry cleaning solution — simply immerse the jewelry for a maximum of six seconds, rinse thoroughly under cold running water, and dry with a soft paper towel. If you do not have these products at hand, we offer free cleaning services at our stores in Prague, Brno, Bratislava, and Český Krumlov. However, we strongly advise against cleaning your jewelry with non-recommended methods (such as dishwashing detergents, sodium hydroxide solutions, or using a toothbrush). Furthermore, if your jewelry contains non-silver elements (such as rudraksha seeds or minerals), avoid immersing it in cleaning solutions — instead, polish the silver parts carefully with the special cloth or entrust the cleaning to our experts.

Our Tips:

  1. Wear your jewelry often! Frequent wear can naturally combat oxidation. If you leave a silver ring or necklace in a jewelry box for a year, it may become heavily oxidized. However, daily or frequent wearing can polish away oxidation without you even noticing.

  2. Contact with clean, cold water is generally safe for silver jewelry without metal combinations. However, exposure to soaps or shampoos may trigger chemical reactions, potentially causing discoloration.

  3. Handle with care. Although silver is a noble metal, it is relatively soft. Avoid storing jewelry in unsuitable places (e.g., wallets) where it may be scratched or deformed. Instead, store it separately in a jewelry box with a soft textile lining. You can purchase a special MOOYYY jewelry box HERE.

  4. Wipe jewelry after wearing. Especially during summer, remove sweat and oils by gently wiping the jewelry with a clean, soft cloth.

  5. Avoid wearing jewelry during physical activities such as cleaning, exercising, gardening, or washing dishes. Also, protect it from impacts and hard surfaces.

  6. If buying jewelry as a gift in advance, store it properly, open the box before gifting, inspect it, and clean any signs of oxidation with a silver cloth.

MOOYYY GOLD-PLATED OR RHODIUM-PLATED JEWELRY

Plating on jewelry is naturally temporary with wear. To maximize its longevity, it is crucial to follow care guidelines. The timeframe for the loss of plating varies greatly depending on how the jewelry is handled.

As with unplated silver, avoid humid or polluted environments. Plated jewelry is particularly sensitive to chemicals. Before applying products like hairspray, perfume, or lotions, either cover or remove the jewelry. Allow any ointments, creams, or oils to dry completely before putting jewelry back on. We also recommend avoiding wearing plated jewelry while sleeping.

Note on rings: Due to constant friction and sweating, rings tend to lose their plating much faster than other pieces. This can happen within days or weeks.

In contrast, plated earrings, bracelets, and necklaces — if properly cared for — may maintain their plating for many months or even years. However, some gradual fading over time is normal.

  • Black rhodium-plated and yellow gold-plated jewelry will gradually fade to a silver tone.

  • Rose gold-plated jewelry will gradually shift from rose to yellow and eventually to silver, as it is typically underplated with yellow gold for better durability.

If necessary, plating can be professionally restored at selected jewelers, and we are happy to recommend trusted services.

MOOYYY JEWELRY WITH PRECIOUS STONES

Jewelry from the Tasia collection is crafted from precious stones, strung on a steel wire coated with a protective nylon layer. These pieces are very delicate, so we recommend handling them with extra care whenever possible.

Contact with cosmetics is also harmful to the stones; therefore, we advise against wearing the jewelry while bathing, playing sports, or sleeping. In this case, the general rule applies: Jewelry comes last!

Has the steel wire worn out, stretched, or has the jewelry lost its original shape? Don’t worry — we are happy to inspect and service your jewelry at any time as part of the repair services we offer.
